Becoming a Bailey Scholar was not only one of the best, but most fulfilling decisions of my new college career. Throughout this course, building bonds, forming friendships, and developing as a student has led me towards the path that I feel will help me succeed in the best possible way. Whether it was our first individual teaching lesson that took place in IM West, or planning our last event as ANR 210, there will always be a special place for what this class has done for me. When I first walked into Room 50 of the Agriculture Hall, I had no idea who I wanted to be and what I was expecting to learn from this new type of class. Developing ideas for an LVS, going to the lab and jotting down all our thoughts of who we are and who we want to be, I’ve never learned so much about how I want to learn and the way I want to do it. To be honest, I don’t think there is a single thing that you can do to prepare for a class like this. Each day brings a new feeling to the surface and allows for you to start to develop ideas of lifelong learning. We wrote on notecards, played Rose, Bud, Thorn, and we developed into a group that would seem like we’ve been together for years. From everything in this class and everyone in the class, I’ve started to learn more of my role and how I want to develop. I’m quiet most of the time, but when I feel strongly I speak my mind. I lead when needed, but prefer to listen to all of the knowledge that everyone else brings to the conversation. I know how I want to learn and I know what I need to do, but all of this was because of a class that I never thought I would even take. I appreciate all that has happened this year and hope to continue this journey or learning into the future Bailey courses.
